CITEM at the GCG Awards (L-R): GCG’s Commissioner Brian Keith F. Hosaka and Chairperson Atty. Marius P. Corpus; Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin; CITEM’s Deputy Executive Director Malou D. Mediran, Department Managers III Atty. Anna Grace I. Marpuri, and Joseph D. Bernat; and GCG Commissioner Geraldine Marie Berberabe-Martinez.
The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) is reaping the rewards for continuously fulfilling its mandated role toward national development – taking home three awards at the recent Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) Awards held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on November 25, 2024.
Based on the CY 2023 Performance Scorecard of the agency, CITEM’s undertakings for the past year merited one of three Most Improved GOCCs and a top ranking GOCC recognition. The agency also received an award for upholding sustainability values and practices with its Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX) Program. The SSX, launched in March 2022, is CITEM’s way of creating an accessible avenue for Philippine companies exploring sustainable options for their manufacturing, product offerings, and services toward increased productivity, efficiency, and potentials for market optimization. Through integrations in trade fair participations, signature events, and learning initiatives, SSX brings together under one platform related businesses, technologies, and practices seeking to achieve a more sustainable, circular economy for the country’s various sectors.
As a partner for robust nation-building, CITEM plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between export-focused MSMEs across industries and viable growth opportunities in the global value supply chain. As the lead export promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), CITEM’s ability to perform its public duties efficiently rests highly on its organizational strengths that are anchored on solid operational systems in place – readily accountable and in congruence with global standards and practices.
As such, the public is assured of transparency whenever it engages with CITEM and the entirety of its workforce and programs, whether local or international in nature.
As such awards are a validation of CITEM’s efforts to enhance its credibility, functions, and institutional thrust, being recognized among peers is just one part of the equation. According to CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido-Ocampo, “We at CITEM are proud as much as we are challenged more than ever to deliver public service that is developmental, pioneering, and relevant to all Filipinos aspiring to reach a level of economic progress, stability, and significant global presence.”
